The Cosmopolitan Soccer League Division 2 continues on March 11th, 2018 with Club Deportivo Iberia making the trip to New Jersey to face Hoboken FC 1912 in what is sure to be a great matchup.

Hoboken welcome their opposition this Sunday as they sit comfortably in first place, boasting both an undefeated run of 7 wins and a single draw in their 8 games and allowing only 7 goals so far this season — the best defensive record in the Division.

Iberia are currently in mid-table position and looking for form, with a win and 2 losses in their last 3 matches. Head CoachCarlos Vásquez is well aware of the Hoboken’s form this season and are looking to make things difficult for them at home.

“We are going into the spring with hopes of making a playoff push. Hoboken is our first obstacle and we are sure they are going to give us a tough start. They are a well organized team and their record speaks for itself.

Hoping we can pull away with some points to start the spring in the right direction.”

Vásquez’s men are also drawn into the 2017/18 John Kilby Cup, football that Hoboken FC 1912 will not be playing. Iberia will face D1 outfit Zum Schneider FC 03 for their first cup match. Schneider currently sit 9th place of the CSL Division 1 table with no wins and a goal difference of -16. Despite their poor form, Vásquez still sees them as a threat.

“It's always a challenge to play teams for first division, regardless of where they are in the standings.

The league cup is a competition we are looking forward to. We recently won it back-to-back and hoping to make a run for it this year again.”

In New Jersey, Hoboken can look to star forward Cory Chaplin for a good result. The winger, along with Malatyaspor USA’s Engin Baytar, lead the Division in goals with 12.

Being top scorer at the half way point is pretty cool but I'm mostly excited about what it means for our club.” said Chaplin.  “We have been scoring a lot of goals this year, but equally important is that we've conceded the least in the league.

Chaplin is no stranger to plying his trade amongst the first division, having played his first season for Hoboken where they featured in the Division 1 2014/15 season, ending up in 6th.  When asked about promotion being very possible for Hoboken FC, Chaplin told the CSL that he isn’t coming to conclusions just yet.

“We are obviously excited about the prospects of promotion but don't want to get ahead of ourselves. We have been around the top of the table fighting for promotion the last 2 years and came up short both times.  Remembering that disappointment will hopefully keep us focused on getting the results necessary to return to the first division….I know how challenging it can be, but collectively I think we all want to test ourselves playing at the highest level our league has to offer.”

The game is set to take place at Laurel Hill Park Field 1 in Secaucus, New Jersey this Sunday, March 11th.
