DIVISION 1: Freedoms midfielder Adam Himeno wins Week 13 Player of the Week with a hat trick

NY Pancyprian Freedoms midfielder Adam Himeno was named Week 13 CSL Player of the Week for scoring a hat trick against reigning champions NY Greek American in a 3-1 win on Sunday.
 
It was Himeno's first hat trick in the CSL but second time winning Player of the Week, which is only one less than the most selected player this season Christopher Katona. The midfielder is pleased of his second nomination but he's more content of how his team played.
 
"Sure, I guess you could say I am proud but I am more proud of our effort and team performance," the 30-year-old said.
 
The first time Himeno won the accolade was also in the Greek-Cypriot Derby against NYGA, scoring a goal and providing one assist in Week 5.
 
"Being a derby it definitely adds something extra to the game," the Atlanta native said about going against NY Greeks. "You want to go out there and win it for your teammates, coaches, and the supporters."
 
Himeno netted his first goal in the 15th minute to open the scoring with a low shot from the right side of the box that hit the bottom right corner of the net.
 
The former St. John's University player scored his last two goals in the final 13 minutes of the game by one-timing Daniel Bedoya's passes home from the 18-yard box.
 
"It's always great to score a goal, scoring three does make me feel good," Himeno said about his three-goal display, "but the victory is much sweeter."
 
The midfielder climbed from seventh to fourth place in the top scorer chart after his hat trick with a total of seven goals from 11 outings. He's NY Pancyprians' second top scorer in the league.
 
Himeno is the club's second best provider as well, tallying five assists in the league.
