First division's off-season transfers

The first division was filled with enthralling off-season transfers. Cedar Stars Academy and NY Athletic Club led the way as they inked two ex-MLS players each.

Two other noteworthy transfers are former Cedar Stars captain Andreas Chronis’ unexpected move back to NY Pancyprian Freedoms and ex-Doxa skipper Kurt Cameron’s swap to Shamrock SC.


Cedar Stars Academy

Former Richard Stockton University 6’ 3” scoring machine Chris Katona also joined CSA alongside ex-pro players Cody Calafiore and Matt Jeffery.

NY Athletic Club

League Cup champions NY Athletic Club’s first team lost 10 players during the summer but bounced back by acquiring 14 new players, which includes two former MLS signings, defenders Anthony Arena and Patrick Slogic.

Shamrock SC

Shamrock SC only lost one player during the offseason, the team’s last Spring season topscorer, Andy O’Connell, but brought in eight new players. The Rocks’ most notable signings are big striker Kurt Cameron from Doxa, fullback Ethan Evans from Lansdowne Bhoys Reserves and 2015 CUNYAC Player of the Year Serigne Kasse.

NY Pancyprian Freedoms

Andreas Chronis returned to NY Pancyprian Freedoms after a two-year spell with Cedar Stars. On the flip side ex-MLS forward Stefan Dimitrov exited the club. Another eminent summer signing from the Freedoms is the acquisition of ex-New York Red Bulls II attacking midfielder Daniel Bedoya.

Reigning champions NY Greek Americans is in the process of signing another player from Lansdowne Bhoys to add to their five former Bhoys.

Defender Harri Hawkins, who netted in the Greeks' 2-0 win over NY Pancyprian in the final last year, upgraded to the professional level as he was signed by New York Cosmos.

Lansdowne Bhoys

Sikele 'Kele' Sylvester and Jonathan Okafor exited three-time champions Lansdowne Bhoys to join Cedar Stars Academy. Kele was with the club in the past four seasons. He notably won three CSL titles with the Bhoys, the Fritz Marth Amateur Cup and the Werner Fricker Open Cup.
