Today, the CSL recaps its Flamhaft Cup and D’Arpino Cup games from last weekend and gives the full rundown of where the league stands so far going into Fall 2018.

- Sun., Oct. 14th, 2018

The Jack Flamhaft Cup champions, Williamsburg International FC, returned to start their defense against LISFL side Mineola Portuguese on Sunday at Randall’s Island.

Williamsburg didn’t get complacent at the idea of facing Long Island Soccer Football League (LISFL) side Mineola Portuguese, cruising past them in a 6-1 win on the weekend at Randall’s. By the end of the first half, the match seemed done and dusted at 5-0 for the Brooklynites. Putting their foot off the gas in the second half, Mineola took advantage of a defense with little to do and errors from the Williamsburg keeper to score a goal. After getting one more before the final whistle, it was 6-1 to the Doylies. Their reserve side didn’t have it as easy in their D’Arpino Cup match against Club Deportivo Iberia’s reserves, solely winning on penalties: 2-2 full-time, 3-2 in the shootout.

Williamsburg International will return to normal CSL 2nd Division play this weekend against Stal Mielec NY at the Bushwich Inlet with kickoff at 4:00pm EST.

Next fixture:

Williamsburg International FC v. Stal Mielec NY

Sun., Oct. 21rd, 2018 - Bushwick Inlet - Kickoff: 4:00 PM EST

Central Park Rangers Reds and their reserves had their first cup game of the season against Oyster Bay Park and New York Athletic Club’s reserves.

The Reds had won over the LISFL’s Oyster Bay Park in a penalty shootout at Randall’s Island Field 91 with the score being 2-2 overall. Both goals for the Reds came from Facundo Zalazar. Two hours later, the Reserve side would fall to CSL’s NY Athletic Club 3-1 with their only goal being scored by Trip Burke. Now, the Reds and the club’s two other Over-30 teams, CPR Orange and CPR Old Boys, will be the only teams progressing to their next round of cup games.

Next fixture:

Central Park Rangers Reds v. FC Spring Valley

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - Randall’s Island Field 75 - Kickoff: 2:00 PM EST

Manhattan Kickers versus Panathinakos USA was next for the Jack Flamhaft Cup with a huge blowout in favor of the Kickers - final score 9-3.

Panathinakos USA hasn’t found their groove as of late and are finding it harder and harder to field players and maintain composure on the field when they can. They were outplayed by a Kickers side who wanted it more than the Greeks and now seem to lose all grasp of their Cup dreams.

Next fixture:

 NY Ukrainians v. Panathinakos USA

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - Randall's Island Field 75 - Kickoff: 10:00 AM EST

Manhattan Kickers weren’t strangers to Panatha after blowing 8 past them earlier in the regular CSL D2 season. However, they still dominated the match throughout and created the most chances out of the two sides, producing the most goals. While 4 goals in the first half made the 3 points a certainty, they still had enough to further the scoreline. “The second half was more of the same, with even more space on the field giving way to five more goals—one blinding half volley from [Zaidan]—as the game became more and more out of reach.”, reported the Kickers’ website.

Next fixture:

Manhattan Kickers v. FC Ulqini

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - East River Park - Kickoff: 11:00 AM EST

KidSuper Samba AC’s first team played against Hempstead-based Oceanside United while the reserves played against NY Greek American’s reserves for both their cup matches.

KidSuper Samba AC was optimistic going into their Flamhaft Cup match, despite not fielding their entire squad until after the start of the match. That optimism was clear to see as they left with the W - final score 3-0. Yankuba Janneh, Khadim Ndiaye and Youssouf Bamba got the goals they were looking for all during the second half. Their reserve side couldn’t keep their winning mentality and optimism as they lost to fellow Cosmo League side NY Greek American’s reserves 5-1.

Next fixture:

Real Olé FC v. KidSuper Samba AC

Sun., Oct. 28th, 2018 - Bower Park - Kickoff: 3:00 PM EST

The Northern 2nd Division’s Sporting Soccer Club played against the South’s FC Ulqini at Soundview Park last Sunday for inching closer their chances of Cup glory with Ulqini besting Sporting 3-2.

With a 6-1 loss to KidSuper on Sept. 23rd and a 3-1 loss to CPR Reds after that, Sporting have now lost back to back league games going into this Cup encounter. They couldn’t turn the tides in their favor and suffered a 3-2 loss at the Soundview Park to Ulqini in the Flamhaft Cup.

Next fixture:

Sporting Soccer Club v. Real Olé FC

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - Williamsbridge Oval - Kickoff: 12:00 PM EST

The Albanians now haven’t lost a game since their 5-2 loss to Beyond FC back in early September and fought to earn their win at the Soundview Park against Sporting SC 3-2. FC Ulquini seem to be quite the competition to their next opponents, the Manhattan Kickers, for this weekend’s Cosmo League 2nd Division action.

Next fixture:

Manhattan Kickers v. FC Ulqini

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - East River Park - Kickoff: 11:00 AM EST

Stay Mielec NY narrowly escaped a loss by making it all the way to penalties and winning against LISFL side Unity FC 5-4 in the shootout - 3-3 in extra time.

Stay Mielec NY managed to maintain control of the game all throughout the match but ultimately had to come back in dramatic fashion to earn their progression in the Flamhaft Cup. They will play next weekend against Williamsburg International to continue their pursuit of climbing up the Cosmo League’s 2nd Division table.

Next fixture:

Williamsburg International FC v. Stal Mielec NY

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - Bushwich Inlet Park - Kickoff: 4:00 PM EST

Polonia Gwardia NY versus FC Spring Valley made it all the way to penalties with the Poles earning their path to the second round of the Cup.

It was 4-3 by a penalty shootout by the end of the Flamhaft Cup match between Polonia Gwardia NY and FC Spring Valley with Polonia Gwardia coming out on top. With a second round matchup and their next opponents in the CSL 2nd Division, Beyonf FC, right around the corner this weekend, they are clearly coming into form being in 2nd in the South as of late.

Next fixture:

Beyond FC v. Polonia Gwardia NY

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - Randall's Island Field 74- Kickoff: 2:00 PM EST

FC Spring Valley will surely put all their energy into their league efforts with both their first team and reserve team failing to progress into the Flamhaft Cup and D'Arpino Cup second round match and will do so against Central Park Rangers Reds, who will look to repeat their form from their cup match this past weekend.

Next fixture:

Central Park Rangers Reds v. FC Spring Valley

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - Randall's Island 75 - Kickoff: 2:00 PM EST

Manhattan Celtic played their Flamhaft Cup game against Greek side Asteras GCC and kept a clean sheet in the process and ran out 3-0 winners.

Manhattan Celtic won 3-0 for their Flamhaft Cup match at Randall's Island Field 84 last Sunday afternoon and will play their next matchup in the league against CD Iberia as Celtic is currently 4th in the Northern Division with 6 points.

Next fixture:

Club Deportivo Iberia v. Manhattan Celtic

Sat., Oct. 20th, 2018 - Randall's Island Field 74- Kickoff: 8:00 PM EST

Stay Mielec NY narrow escaped a loss by making it all the way to penalties and winning against LISFL side Unity FC 5-4 in the shootout - 3-3 in extra time.

Stay Mielec NY managed to maintain control of the game all throughout the match but ultimately had to come back in dramatic fashion to earn their progression in the Flamhaft Cup. They will play next weekend against Williamsburg International to continue their pursuit of climbing up the Cosmo League’s 2nd Division table and continue their winning ways as they currently stand alongside the Polish rivals Polonia Gwardia and the North's CD Iberia as the only CSL D2 side to win all their league games so far.

Next fixture:

Williamsburg Internation FC v. Stal Mielec NY

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - Bushwich Inlet Park - Kickoff: 4:00 PM EST

NY Ukrainians played last weekend Randall's Island Field 74 against LISFL's D1 side NY Polet 3-1 at the end of 90 minutes.

They now sit in 8th in the South with a single point and will play against Panathinakos USA this upcoming Sunday. With much of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League furthering into the Flamhaft Cup alongside Ukrainians, their next fixture will surely be in their favor.

Next fixture:

NY Ukrainians v. Panathinakos USA

Sun., Sept. 23rd, 2018 - Randall's Island Field 72 - Kickoff: 5:00 PM EST

Another LISFL side faced off against a CSL side for the Flamhaft Cup in the form of New York Irish Rovers versus Club Deportivo Iberia with the Rovers coming out the winners.

Club Deportivo Iberia couldn't muster a winning performance in their 4-1 loss and continue onto the next round of the Cup and will return this weekend to play at Randall's Island to play against Celtic. Their form in the league will hopefully show this weekend as they currently sit in 2nd in the Northern 2nd Division.

Next fixture:

Club Deportivo Iberia v. Manhattan Celtic

Sun., Sept. 23rd, 2018 - Randall's Island Field 75 - Kickoff: 2:00 PM EST

FC Japan put all their energy in their Flamhaft Cup match against Floral Park FC and were rewarded for their efforts by winning via a penalty shootout 6-5.

FC Japan played against Floral Park and went into the changing room at the end of 90 minutes 3-3. They went to a penalty shootout with the Japanese nailing the win and continuing to the second round of the Cup. They will now face against Williamsburg International FC next weekend at Randall's.

Next fixture:

FC Japan v. Williamsburg International FC

Sun., Oct. 28th, 2018 - Randall's Island Field 72 - Kickoff: 10:00 AM EST

Elsewhere in the Flamhaft Cup, Beyond FC played against Forest Park for their cup game 3-1.

Beyond FC won their match and will continue in the Flamhaft Cup soon but this weekend, it's all about picking up points at Randall's Island against Polonia Gwardia NY at 2:00pm to hopefully climb up the table.

Next fixture:

Beyond FC v. Polonia Gwardia NY

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - Randall's Island Field 75 - Kickoff: 2:00 PM EST

The next CSL team for the chance at the Flamhaft Cup was Real Olé FC, who didn't disappoint by running circles around LISFL top flight team NY Serbia in a huge 8-3 result.

An impressive result by the Hudson Valley natives, they are surely the favorites for their next encounter in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League against Sporting Soccer Club this Sunday at the Williamsbridge Oval, especially as they are yet to be defeated in the league.

Next fixture:

Real Olé FC v. Sporting Soccer Club

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - Williamsbridge Oval - Kickoff: 12:00 PM EST

Brishna didn't fear their opposition last weekend as they won 3-1 to LISFL Hicksville American SC and will progress to the Flamhaft Cup next round.

Brishna had no problem going a goal down and eventually won their encounter 3-1 despite their foreign opposition and are set to play against NYPD FC for their next league game of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League 2nd Division.

Next fixture:

NYPD FC v. Brishna

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - Flushing Meadow Field 5 - Kickoff: 10:00 AM EST

After seeing their fellow CSL teams succeed in the Cup, NYPD FC did not win their match against LIFSL side Leros with the final score 5-1.

After winning against Manhattan Celtic last time out for the league in a 3-1 result, they have Brishna to face this weekend at the Flushing Meadow Field as they will not continue in the Flamhaft Cup.

Next fixture:

NYPD FC v. Brishna

Sun., Oct. 21st, 2018 - Flushing Meadow Field 5 - Kickoff: 10:00 AM EST
