Region I Semifinals Set

 

(1 May) - We are down to the final four of all three of our cup qualifiers after this weekend's US Over-30 Cup action.Sunday we play the Werner Fricker US Open Cup with matches in Maryland and New York.  Then comes the US Amateur before we return to the Over-30 Cup.

 

It all leads to the Region I Finals scheduled for 15 June at the Ukrainian American Sport Center in Horsham, Pennsylvania.  The three winners head out in July for the US Adult Soccer National Cup Finals to be played in Salt Lake, Utah.

Only one match was played in the Gerhard Mengel US Over-30 Cup as Polonia Wallington Over-30 (NJ) had to withdraw from the competition.  Club Napoli (CT) advance to the northern bracket semifinal and will host NY Dinamo (ENY) on 18 May.  The southern bracket featured two-time defending regional and national champion Christos FC O-30 (MD) against West Chester United Predators (EPA).  It was a back and forth affair with the Predators taking the lead twice only to see Christos tie the match both times on goals from Vinnie Piscopo and Zach Flores.  The match winner came from Lucio Gonzaga in the 70th when he finished off a rebound from a Val Texiera shot.  United SC (MDCVA) will meet Christos in the semifinal.

Mass Premier Soccer has a busy week as it travels to Randalls Island to take on Lansdowne Bhoys (ENY) for the regional qualifier on Sunday.  It then will play against Western Mass Pioneers (PDL) Wednesday night in the first round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.  The other regional semifinal sees the Maryland Bays (MD) hosting Dulles Sportsplex Aegean Hawks FC (MDCVA) in Baltimore.
