New York Athletic Club vs Beyond FC (8-1)

The New York Athletic Club finished up the fall 2021 season in a huge way. The 8-1 win over Beyond FC is the team’s largest of the year and keeps them in the top half of the table. Beyond meanwhile has not looked composed this season and sits at the bottom of the table without a win this year. They have one more match this Sunday against Kelmendi FC NY in New Jersey.

Hoboken FC 1912 vs Zum Schneider FC 03 II (0-0)
Two tenants of the top CSL division closed out the fall with a hard fought draw. For Hoboken FC 1912, they remain at the top of the table for now but are still disappointed with the result. Meanwhile Zum Schneider FC 03 II dug in despite being undermanned due to COVID-19 concerns and came away from the match with positive momentum for the Spring.

Zum entered the match fixated on being organized and making Hoboken’s life difficult on a windy day. Using some reserve players who had already played in the prior match, they were successful. This also came as members of the coaching staff, including assistant coach Lucas Doucette, were unavailable.

“Hoboken didn't really do much to threaten us and lacked creativity in the final third,” acting player coach Ryan Horch said afterwards. “It's a shame the league voted down playoffs again this season because we have our eyes set on top four and could make some noise.”

His side’s backline, and especially goalkeeper Ricky Bowry, held tight for the full 90 minutes to earn the clean sheet and MVP honors from the staff.

However, Hoboken head coach Steven Korfiatis sees it a different way. For him the home side had plenty of chances to go up against the EPSL second team. Zum rarely ever got close to his group’s box and were on the backfoot most of the match. James Reed and Aitor Hernandez both had multiple chances that went wide of the net or, in the former’s case, slammed off the bar. Meanwhile, in the second half a few chances up top for Zum allowed forward Conor Pelas to cause more disruption and limited Hoboken’s time on the ball even more.

“Unfortunately these things happen in the game and the finishing doesn't always fall your way,” Korfiatis said. “The boys created chances but weren't cut throat enough around the box.”

Hoboken has drawn it’s last three games this fall. Despite being undefeated, Richmond County FC can still jump the side for first place this Sunday in its final match.

FC Sandžak vs Polonia SC (3-3)

Two teams fighting to jump into the top half of the table ended with neither coming away happy. The draw between FC Sandzak and Polonia SC saw both teams come close to finding the winning score but neither could. Because of that, both remain tied at 14 points each in 7th and 8th place respectively. Sandzak, however, has one more match this Sunday when it visits Borgetto FC.

New York Shamrock SC vs Stal Mielec NY (2-0)

New York Shamrock SC finished out the fall on a two win streak after taking down Stal Mielec NY, 2-0. The win puts the defending champions in the Top Four heading into the holiday break while Stal Mielec will remain in the relegation zone.

Richmond County FC vs Borgetto FC (4-3)
(Match highlights by Game in Frame)
An intense back and forth ended with a Richmond County FC win over Borgetto FC, 4-3. The win keeps County on the tail of current Division 1 leaders Hoboken, who trail the New Jersey side by two points with a game in hand this fall.

Ady Gaye got his team on the board less than 120 second win when Kemal Brkanovic found him for the early, frankly surprising, score. However, the visitors rallied and under ten minutes into the first half Luis Vera found John Rodriguez to even the score at one goal each.

The trading offenses came as no surprise as both these teams lead the top division in goals scored. After this match, both are now tied with 36 goals each this season. While Alexis Santa put Borgetto on top midway through the half, assisted by Alejandro Bastidas, Richmond’s MVP of the night soon made his mark. In the 39th minute Bljedi Bardic assisted Mark Shnadshteyn to tie the game, 2-2, before scoring his own goal four minutes later. The trickle into the lower left corner only came about when Peter Zima intercepted an errant Borgetto pass and forced it towards the former New Amsterdam FC player.

From that point Richmond did not look back. James Haddad scored this team’s fourth goal early in the second half. A somewhat controversial goal by Angelo Bordenca in the final ten minutes, with Richmond claiming their goalkeeper was interfered with, gave Borgetto life but the team ran out of time.

Richmond will visit Manhattan Kickers this Sunday while Borgetto close out the fall against FC Sandzak.

Kelmendi FC NY vs Manhattan Kickers (0-2)
Manhattan Kickers win over Kelmendi FC NY put space between the side and the Division 1 relegation zone. Besides that, it was also crucial as the group finally had a somewhat full roster for a match and showed what it could accomplish.

Toric Robinson came out strong on the starting backline while the midfield finally came into what head coach Bryan Baracaldo had envisioned since the start of the season.

“Knowing that our (midfield) was covered with two strong players, (it) allowed us to play freely offensively and get some quality chances.”

Both of his team’s goals came in the first half. The first by Mohammad “Mustafa” Mohammadi, who redirected a free kick cross into the back of the net. Shaiem Allahmorad scored the next one following a through ball pass that set him up for a fantastic run. His move around the keeper left the net wide open for the score.

The Kickers will finish the fall off this Sunday when they host Richmond County FC.
